About Mariia
Mariia is an experienced piano teacher from young children to adults.
For each new student she spends time to assess your skill level and what you want to achieve with your lessons. The focus is on you, and whether your passion is Elton John, Ludovico Einaudi or Chopin Mariia can shapes her approach to your goals, making it fun and engaging along the way.
Each lesson will include a plan for home practice that is realistic to your lifestyle and free time. Her aim to be efficient and clear in her teaching methods.
Mariia has extensive experience of teaching children, helping them to appreciate and love playing the piano.
For children focus is on learning in a playful way that includes games and duets.
When they’re ready Mariial introduces pieces and songs for them to learn, both during the lesson and for homework.
Mariia prepares her students for grade exams if required (up to 6 grade)
For adults the focus of her teaching is good technique and correcting any bad habits. Lessons can be based around learning pieces or studying genres through its history and theory.
Either way is a great way to learn, but the long-term goal is to achieve the freedom of the keyboard through a full understanding of keys, scales, chords and arpeggios. This opens up the exciting world of improvisation and composition.
Mariia can teach in her native Ukrainian, or in Russian or English.
She offers both online and in-person lessons in your location. She is based in London SW8 (Vauxhall, Nine Elms, Battersea Power Station, Stockwell, Clapham) and can travel within reason.
