About Maria

Hi! I am a 8-years-experienced violin teacher, working with any level. I can help you preparing your certification exam or just discovering and enjoy this wonderful instrument!

What I love the most about teaching is the human relation that it creates and I always try to be as much attentive as I can to the student's needs, wishes and characteristics, in order to offer a learning experience that is personalized, effective and fun.

Learning with me
I have been teaching violin and music in general for the past 8 years, working with every kind of student, from children to adults, professional and amateur, beginner and not.
I am a very patient teacher and I always try to find many different material and new stimuli to exercise and stay motivated. The goal is to give you the tools to express yourself through music, expand your skills and musical imagination, having fun in the process.

The first lesson
The first lesson is then very important to get to know each other and to set the expectations in order to design the path to follow. For complete beginner it is necessary, of course, to set the basics, so posture, positions of the two hands, bow basic technique and sound production, first position. As soon as it is possible I introduce first simple pieces, from different genres (usually use classical al folk pieces, but am open to any kind of repertoire).

If you already have some experience, we are going to target technical aspects and progress with a wide range of repertoire. I am always open to your needs and preferences, so the first lesson is a good occasion to get to know each other and draw the direction.

Experience and education
I completed my musical studies in Italy, but I had the chance to spend some time studying and playing in Belgium and Austria too.
Alongside teaching I play in orchestras and ensembles and I also continued studying, getting a master degree in baroque violin, being baroque music a great passion of mine.
I try to play with other colleagues as often as I can, because I think that sharing music and building something together is not only the most pleasant part of this job, but also a inexhaustible source of personal and professional growth.

I am based in Birmingham and I teach in English, Italian and French.
