Hello! My name's Marcos Pires and I'd be delighted to help you explore everything that you want to know. Whether you're just looking for a fun new hobby or want to become a professional drummer and skilled musician, I can share my time and tools with you to teach you what you need to practice.
I'm a professionally qualified musician and drum tutor with over 3 years of teaching experience and 15 years playing gigs and festivals across the world. I've supported artists such as Pip Millett, Nubya Garcia, Lex Amor, Ibibio Sound Machine and more, as well as performing at popular festivals across the UK including Dot2Dot Festival, Farmfest and Manchester International Festival. My main projects currently are Femi Tahiru who I drum and do BVs for, and likewise for Lei Hope who's an up-and-coming artist from Manchester.
Whether you're a complete beginner or would like to take your existing drumming skills to an advanced level, I'm an expert at helping you to build and improve your technique and confidence behind the kit. We can focus on playing different music genres to improve your performance, creativity, and technical ability, before organically honing in on how you naturally want to play. I can tailor each lesson to you personally and will do so in the best way possible for you to effectively and comfortably explore the beauty of drums as a complex instrument.
I specialise in jazz, soul, funk and hip hop, but I'm accomplished in rock, pop, electronic, reggae and more. I can teach you how to develop your talent and knowledge in any style of drumming you wish by sharing years of experience as a global performer and teacher. We can explore the basic foundations of drumming, swung rhythms, ghost notes, displacement and more, as well as learn how to read sheet music as we go.
