About Maisy
I currently only have capacity to take on online students. If you are really interested in learning with me, but would only like in-person lessons, please let me know and we can discuss future opportunities.
Maisy is an experienced clarinettist and arts educator. Having graduated from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a first-class BMus in Instrumental Performance, her lessons are inclusive, student-focused and suitable for all ages. Maisy specialises in classical music, but understands the importance of learning music you enjoy, and often arranges rock and pop music to suit her student's needs.
Lessons are planned with the student's interests in mind, focusing on a combination of technique, musicality and creativity. You can expect to learn about music notation, improvisation or graphic scores. The decision to take exams and the positives and negatives will be in discussion with the student!
For clarinet and saxophone learners, please have access to your instrument, a reed and if you already play, your favourite piece to play to your first lesson! For music theory lessons please have access to a pencil, manuscript paper if you have it (you can download this for free), and any music theory books you have worked on previously.
Maisy has been teaching clarinet and saxophone for seven years, with experience teaching all ages from 10 to 70! She is comfortable teaching beginner to grade six (clarinet to grade seven).
