Teaching in Singing
Lydia teaches singing from beginners to advanced levels at any age. She offers graded exams and teaches from the ABRSM syllabuses. Lydia likes to tailor her singing lessons to each individual, but focuses primarily on technique, as she believes this is the key to achieving a flexible and expressive voice. Over a series of lessons you will focus on building your own individual voice through breathing, vocal exercises and experimenting with repertoire.
Teaching in Piano
Lydia teaches piano to all ages from beginner to grade 6. She also follows the ABRSM syllabus for graded exams. Lydia believes that it is extremely important to develop a good relationship with her students so that they feel comfortable and free to make mistakes. A typical piano lesson with Lydia will focus on scales and exercises for the first half, followed by pieces and incorporating technique learned in the exercises in an effective way incorporating these techniques more expressively into pieces.
Teaching in Music Theory

Lydia's first lesson with you will include a chat about what you want to get out of your lessons and how they will work. She will then work through some exercise with you to get an idea of your ability and make a plan of future lessons.
Making the first step towards trying something new is always the biggest one, so have no fear! You do not need to bring or prepare anything. Lydia will simply talk to you and get to know you in the first lesson, and you can begin to make a plan of your future lessons together.
