About Luke
Hey! My name is Luke, and I'm an instrumental teacher based in Birmingham.
My primary instrument is the saxophone, but I'm also offering lessons in guitar, piano and music theory. I have a particular interest in jazz and improvisation, with that being my training as a student, and the primary focus of my performing career. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if any of these are up your street!
I graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a First Class Honours degree in Jazz Performance, and I play all types of saxophone - alto, tenor, soprano and baritone. Throughout my time at the conservatoire, I was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and I currently lead my own band called in//motion, performing jazz and contemporary music across the country. This is alongside my career as a session musician, performing both in a band and solo at events and weddings across the UK, and throwing in the odd recording session where I can.
My career so far has led me to performing with artists such as Lisa Simone, Tommy Blaize and Hermeto Pascoal, and even sharing the stage with comedian Reginald D Hunter. Recent highlights include playing at Ronnie Scott's, a sold out show at The Barbican Centre, and the Utilita Arena.
I'm looking to take on some more students during the week, so please get in touch! I am offering a free trial lesson for anyone interested in studying an instrument.
