About Lucy B.
Lucy is a professional harpist and teacher based in Warwickshire. She teaches both children and adults, individually and within groups at all levels including beginners. She has lots of teaching experience including as a higher level teaching assistant at Secondary Schools and knowledge of the KS3, GCSE and A Level Music Syllabus for various exam boards. Lucy has an enhanced DBS on the update service, public liability insurance and experience working one to one with individuals with special educational needs.
Throughout her studies and alongside performances, Lucy has undertaken modules in Music Teaching, Arts in the Community and Music, Health and Wellbeing - this also after studying Psychology at A Level. Throughout several of these modules, Lucy has learnt about a range of verbal, and non-verbal special educational needs and disabilities, including with the use of teaching, music and arts in these settings. Lucy has smaller harps which are suitable for workshop and music therapy settings. Lucy has recently accepted a role as resident musician with Breathe Arts Health Research. I have had the opportunity to perform the harp for a free "breathing space" lunchtime performance last July for NHS workers, patients, and visitors at Guy's and St Thomas' hospital and NHS Foundation Trust. She genuinely enjoys connecting with people through music, conversation and within a variety of environments including classrooms.
In terms of education, Lucy graduated with BMus in Music with First Class Honours from Bangor University. Previously, she spent 3 years at the London Royal Academy of Music Junior Department under teacher Miriam Keogh. Here she studied crucial performance skills, including both solo and within ensembles. She also performed regular concerts with the Academy Orchestra including works such as Night on Bald Mountain - Mussorgsky, Die Moldau - Smetana, The Seasons - Glazunov and Swan Lake No. 1 Scene - Tchaikovsky. She then continued her studies at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff in Harp Performance before pursuing a full time career as a freelance musician.
Throughout this time, Lucy has been performing at private and public events across the UK. She has been guest harpist for concerts with The Caldicot Male Voice Choir and Royal Naval Association Male Voice Choir with previous clients including the Mod Kineton, The National Trust and Bath Spa Hotel.
