About Lucy
I am passionate about teaching and making a difference, through seeing each of my student's as an individual, adjusting my teaching approach to their needs, strengths and challenges. I believe all should have the opportunity to enjoy the adventure and process of music making.
With over 25 years of experience teaching music in schools and privately, I am dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. All styles taught - including Classical and Irish fiddle.
I teach students of all ages and levels - from beginners to advanced, in one-to-one and group settings. By setting achievable goals, such as performing a piece to family, joining an ensemble or orchestra, taking part in festivals, or learning a favourite piece, I aim to keep students motivated and inspired.
I attended Middlesex University, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies. After completing my training, I worked as a freelance Violinist in orchestras and chamber ensembles across London and the UK, as well as teaching in schools.
I also prepare students who wish to take exams using ABRSM and Trinity London exam boards. I have a 100% success rate, with majority gaining merit and distinctions.
Lessons also cover effective practice techniques to enhance the enjoyment of learning.
Benefits of learning music
Music education can help in so many ways including improving learning, memory, active listening and creativity, enhancing self-expression, maths concepts, coordination, fine motor skills, as well as building self-confidence and enhancing well being.
Making learning fun and inspirational!
My teaching approach includes introducing students to a wide range of music and keeping lessons fresh with new repertoire. I strive to create a positive and supportive environment where students can reach their full potential.
