About Louis Campbell
"A talent to watch" - The Sunday Times.
I am a first class graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, having studied under Martin Simpson (23 time BBC Folk Award Nominee), Craig Ogden (Concerto Soloist) and Stuart McCallum (The Cinematic Orchestra). I am an active performer, as electric guitarist for Martin Simpson, fiddle virtuoso Sam Sweeney, folk singer Sam Lee and as one half of Spafford Campbell.
My varied background in classical guitar, electric guitar and folk music allows for an extremely open and balanced musical education for my students. I aim to provide all students with classical technique and jazz/folk/contemporary aural skills, ensuring that they are never hindered practically or theoretically when exploring their musical interests or collaborating with other musicians . I follow students interests as they develop to ensure their passion is nurtured and that practice remains an exciting exercise. I have been teaching privately for 10 years, have a full DBS check and have achieved excellent grade results with students who chose that route.
I am able to teach in person at my house in Greenwich, at the student's address or online via Zoom. I typically suggest 30-45 minute lessons for under 12s and one hour lessons for anyone older. I can teach from beginner level to beyond Grade 8 standard.
Thanks very much for reading and please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions!
