About Katie Harris
Are you looking for a friendly teacher who has great experience in teaching all ages? `Then look no further!
Katie is a very experienced, passionate, caring and friendly clarinet and sax teacher, who has taught in schools and privately for over 25 years.
Katie makes the lessons fun and engaging for any age pupil and focuses on enjoyment and building confidence whether that be exam focused or playing for fun.
Katie has experience in all types of music, and has very high success rate in exams. She had taught the ABRSM or Trinity syllabus.
Katie has a BMus (hons) degree in music with clarinet being her first study, and Sax close behind.
Katie can teach up to diploma level on both instruments.
Katie can teach online or at home in Great Ayton, North Yorkshire.
First lesson
In the first lesson, Katie will aim to make you feel comfortable and relaxed and have a chat about what music you would like to play, and what your aspirations are. Katie's focus is enjoyment of playing, and playing the styles that best suit the individual.
We will start playing some music (either songs you’ve played you’ve played before, or start aiming to produce a sound.)
The aim will be to get to know each other. Katie will explain how you can get the best out of your lessons.
Biog
Katie grew up in Barnet, North London, where she played in all the local authority bands and orchestras. She trained at the London College of Music,under the tuition of Linda Merrick. It was as a student that she first found the love of teaching.
Katie is in the process of relocating to Great Ayton, North Yorkshire. Katie has a love of musical theatre, and loves to play in orchestra pits around the country!
Katies other hobbies include walking/keeping fit, photography, live music and travelling.
Beginners
Katie can help you with advice on buying/renting an instrument, and what reeds/music to buy.
Lessons are online or at home in Great Ayton, North Yorkshire and usually last 30 minutes.
