I have been having c.3-weekly lessons with Katherine for a little over a year and a half now. As well as being a highly accomplished musician, Katherine is an exemplary teacher. Her teaching style is very supportive, encouraging and bespoke, and she has been incredibly patient with me as life frequently gets in the way of best intentions for practice between lessons. She explains things clearly, breaks pieces down into manageable chunks, and offers great tips on techniques. She will also play in tandem with me to helpfully ease any pressure when I have turned up unprepared! - as well as play solo to demonstrate elements of bow-craft, articulation, tempo, phrasing, etc. She is most attentive in following up lessons with helpful files and video recordings to support home learning. I've been going to Katherine for about a year and 3 months now and can honestly say its been the best decision. I worried whether I was too 'adult' to pick up lessons and Katherine made me feel so welcome and has made every lesson since so much fun! Given that I have a full time job and other commitments Katherine never makes the lessons or practice at home feel like work. I have also seen her brief interactions with the kids that she teaches and you can tell they thoroughly enjoy their lessons. She gives everyone the attention and commitmentthey deserve! Highly recommend Katherine to anyone wanting to do lessons! :)
