About Julien
FIRST LESSON 50% OFF
A holistic approach to music teaching: focusing not only on technique and theory but also rhythmic awareness, ear training, composition, improvisation... All the skills essential to becoming a well-rounded musician. Lessons are tailored to the needs and desires of each individual student: songs that they may want to learn, techniques, styles etc and so the short-term and long-term goals are personalised.
Lessons at all levels will include some repertoire (learning your favourite songs!) as well as learning/developing skills, keeping all lessons musical and fun. All styles of music are welcome and an exchange of music and listening often takes place during lessons.
Julien is a professional gigging musician and composer. Recent highlights include just completing a UK tour with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra featuring Tommy Blaize as well as returning from a 3-month trip funded by Arts Council England to study composition and Brazilian guitar with Toninho Horta, Daniel Santiago, Guinga...
Julien has been teaching for the past 6 years, independently as well as with the Birmingham Music Service, Cheltenham Festivals and has most recently been appointed Head of Guitar at the Yamaha Music School in Croydon.
