About Joy

About Me
Hello! I am Joy, a passionate music tutor with a M.Mus. (University Of Hull) degree and ABRSM Piano certification. With over 7 years of experience, I specialise in teaching beginners to intermediate students (age 6 to Adult), helping each learner build a solid foundation while enjoying the process of making music.

What I Teach
Piano: building confidence and technique from the very first lesson

Music Theory: from the basics of notation to strong exam preparation

Composition: guiding students to create their own music, from simple melodies to more developed works

Harp: introducing one of the most beautiful instruments with step-by-step support

Music Appreciation: exploring how to listen, understand, and connect more deeply with music

My Teaching Style
Every student is unique, so I prepare my lessons to match your goals and interests. Some learners thrive with structured, exam-focused lessons, while others prefer a relaxed, creative approach. I offer both styles; always aiming to make lessons engaging, clear, and enjoyable.
Above all, I believe music learning should be inspiring, not intimidating. My role is to support you in developing the skills, confidence, and joy that will carry your music journey forward.
