About Josh Hilton
Josh is a professional guitar and music theory teacher based in Birmingham, UK. He has achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Musicianship at the British & Irish Institute of Music, as well as attending one of the UK's top performing arts academy's, Birmingham Ormiston Academy.
Josh's Professional Background
Although only early into his career, Josh has many accomplishments across a variety of sectors within the music industry. Being a keen musical lover, Josh has played in a pit band for several musicals, such as We Will Rock You and High School Musical. He has also worked with youth theatres such as RicNic for online cabarets in support of upcoming actors and musical theatre performers. Additionally, Josh plays for various artists in Birmingham and London as a session musician, playing a variety of genres such as pop, rock and jazz. More recently, Josh has begun to play for a high profile wedding and events company across the UK, playing at a multitude of venues and with varying audiences and styles.
Outside of performing, Josh has found a love for teaching and has been private teaching for a few years in total, offering 1-1 online sessions, as well as some in person tuition. Josh aims to become a full time tutor later in his career and is consistently adapting and learning new ways and methods to further develop his teaching skills to provide the best musical education he can. His view on teaching is that it is the most rewarding and fulfilling role a musician can take on, and he has a true passion for helping people of all ages and abilities learn to express themselves through music.

Josh focuses his lessons on engagement, using exercises and feedback to encourage development. As well as this, a variety of graded material can be taught in order to sit exams from boards such as ABRSM, Rockschool, and Trinity. Josh prides himself on his easy-going, highly communicative and attentive work ethic, ensuring that every technique and skill taught has the student's best interests and aspirations in mind. Furthermore, Josh specialises in genres such as R&B, Soul, Jazz and Rock, however he has experience in a multitude of genres.
