About Josh
Josh is a recent graduate from Edinburgh Napier Univeristy, studying Timpani/ Percussion with an orchestral focus. Josh has been learning and playing percussion for over 10 years and is looking to start teaching his own students. Josh loves to share his passion for music and wants to provide as many opportunities as possible for his students through offering the option of Samba Drumming and Percussion Ensemble alongside his lessons, where the student will meet likeminded individuals.
Josh is a dedicated and patient tutor, and is looking to build on his teaching experience within Percussion. Josh wanted to create a fun and engaging environment for all his students, as he believes learning music should be setting students a challenge to push for improvement, yet keeping lessons fun!
In Josh’s lessons, beginner students will start on Snare Drum and Drum-Kit, to provide a strong foundation of rhythm, technique and coordination. Then the students will be introduced to Tuned Percussion and Timpani, providing the student with a variety of different styles of music and repertoire. For more experienced students, Josh will have an introductory/ recap lesson to start off with, to gauge what level of playing the student is at and to go over technique areas around percussion.
Josh also will offer the option of examination for students who want to gain performance qualifications within Percussion/ Drum-Kit. Although this is completely optional as some students will see learning an instrument as a hobby.
Josh can teach Snare Drum, Drum-Kit, Tuned Percussion, Timpani, Music Theory, SQA DrumKit/ Tuned Percussion, SQA Exam and Composition Support.
Lessons will be held at Lochgelly Band Hall in Fife, as this is where the instruments and equipment is stored for tuition. If you have your own equipment at home, Josh is happy to provide tuition services and travel to you. Online tuition will only be available for Music Theory and SQA Exam and Composition support.
If you would like the lessons to take place at your location this is possible depending upon distance, and there may be an additional fee to cover transport time and expenses - message Josh for more details and to confirm the additional costs, if any.
