I am an experienced piano player with a classical and jazz background, keen to teach the piano to beginners, help those who are working towards their grade exams, or support those who simply want to play for their own pleasure. I can also offer lessons covering music theory, classical notation, chord charts and improvisation.

I am passionate about the piano and have been right through the learning journey, gaining grades including Grade 8 in classical piano, music GCSE and music A-level, and I am now studying jazz piano at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. I have experience of playing and performing in a range of settings and with a variety of ensembles, from solo performance to big band, small venues to festivals.

I am friendly and relaxed, and my lessons will be adapted to the needs of each student. In addition to building students' repertoire, my lessons will equip them with the skills and technique to enable them to enjoy and improve their playing, enabling them to explore music and express themselves creatively.

First Lesson
This will be a relaxed, getting-to-know you session where I can find out what you want from our lessons. If you are a complete beginner, we will look at the basics and familiarise you with the piano. We will try to learn something you can take back to show your friends and family! If you already play, we will find out what you need to move forward.

Subsequent lessons will include:
- technique
- scales
- making chords
- chord progression
- fingering
- learning and perfecting pieces
- music theory

The weight given to each of these elements will vary according to the needs of the student and the style of music being played.
