About Joanna
My name is Joanna and I’m a 28 year old professional opera singer and singing teacher.
I am a passionate and experienced vocal teacher specialising in classical, opera, and musical theatre. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Cardiff University, along with two Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance and Advanced Opera from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. My professional career has taken me to perform and work internationally, working with companies such as Welsh National Opera and Stuttgart State Opera, giving me a broad and versatile understanding of vocal styles, performance practice, and stagecraft.
I have taught with Stage Coach and International School of Music in Cardiff as well as teaching privately for 5+ years now alongside my singing career. I love helping singers of all ages and abilities discover their voice and build confidence. Whether you are a complete beginner, preparing for auditions, working towards exams, or refining professional technique, I tailor each lesson to your individual goals and learning style. My teaching focuses on healthy vocal technique, musical expression, and developing a secure, flexible voice alongside building confidence in singing and performing.
I offer both in-person and online lessons, making tuition accessible and flexible wherever you are based. In addition to vocal coaching, I also provide music theory lessons to support students working towards GCSE, A Level, and ABRSM examinations.
My lessons are supportive, engaging, and encouraging, with an emphasis on strong foundations, expressive storytelling, and performance confidence. I aim to create a positive environment where students feel motivated, challenged, and inspired to reach their full vocal potential.
