About Jess Hughes
"I believe that learning the harp should be an exciting and enjoyable experience, whether you are completely new to the harp, preparing for graded exams, or learning for fun!"
Award-winning harpist Jess Hughes graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a First Class ‘Bachelor of Music with Honours’ degree in 2022, and a ‘Master of Music’ degree in 2023, studying with Eira Lynn Jones and Anne-Marie O'Farrell. Prior to her time at RNCM, Jess was awarded a scholarship to attend Wells Cathedral School, where she studied harp with Ruth Faber.
Jess gained a passion for teaching during her studies at the RNCM, where she took modules in ‘Individual Teaching’ and ‘Practical Pedagogy’. She also regularly helped with coaching the RNCM Young Harps sessions, a project established by Eira Lynn Jones.
In Spring 2021, Jess obtained a position as a Teaching Ambassador for the highly acclaimed ‘Benedetti Foundation’, where she learnt skills in how to teach warm-ups, solfege and practice tips, to individuals and groups of all ages and abilities.
