About Jakub

Jakub is an experienced cello teacher and a current member of the Southbank Sinfonia,
Teaching the cello is Jakub's great passion. He loves to share his knowledge and pass it to his students.
He teaches all the age groups and all levels. His lessons are tailored specificаlly to students needs and he is happy to prepare you /your child for the exams (ABRSM or Trinity).

He earned a Masters of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York, where he was a full scholarship holder and studied with Professor David Geber. In 2021, Jakub graduated with first-class honours from the Royal Academy of Music in London.
He gained his teaching experience not only through teaching for many years in New York, London and Poland, but also attending the Royal Academy of Music’s teaching course (LRAM) and Manhattan School of Music pedagogy course.

He was awarded many prizes at the international competitions in locations such as Dolny Kubin, Warsaw, Palmanova, Ek, and Elblg. His latest achievements include second prize at the Rudolf Barshai International Strings Competition, third prize at the II International Gustav Mahler Cello Competition in Jihlava (2020), first prize at the 4th North International Music Competition in Stockholm (2019), and first prize at the Bach Competition in Krakow (2018).


Jakub has participated in a wide range of courses and masterclasses, including with Jens Peter Maintz, Marti Roussi, Natasha Brofsky, Morten Zeuthen, Philippe Muller, Colin Carr, Sung-Won Yang, Mario Brunello, and Claus Reichardt.


As an orchestral musician, Jakub collaborated with the New York Philharmonic, Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Czech Philharmonic. He played under the baton of Hannu Lintu, Semyon Bychkov, Stephane Deneve, Sir Mark Elder, John Wilson, Ryan Wigglesworth and Speranza Scappucci.

In recent years, he has performed at prestigious concert halls around Europe and the US, some of which are Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Snape Maltings, St James’s Church Piccadilly, Southwark Cathedral, the Szczecin Philharmonic, The National Forum of Music in Wroclaw, the Concert Hall of The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) in Katowice, The National Opera in Warsaw, the Cracow and Silesian Philharmonic, the Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw, and Teatro Gustavo Modena in Palmanova.
