About Jack B.

Jack is a pianist and theatre music director, and has performed in theatres across the UK on various musical productions, as well as working as an audition and rehearsal pianist. He holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Sheffield in Music where he specialised in performance (Piano) and composition, alongside a Masters degree from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in Musical Direction. As a tutor, Jack has worked with a variety of people, from students and young people, to amateurs and professional musicians. He is very keen to help new and experienced musicians develop themselves as musicians and performers, and have fun whilst doing it. Jack has now spent most of his life studying music and has developed a real passion which he hopes to encourage more people to develop through his lessons.

Teaching in Piano
Jack teaches piano from beginners to advanced students ages 7 and up, including preparation for ABRSM exams. These lessons focus on technique, theory, efficient practice methods and exercises, and performance coaching. Each lesson will cover aspects of technique with a programme of exercises to build strength and agility, scales and relevant theory knowledge to build on the technique exercises and musicianship, and performance coaching through the study and practice of pieces. Each lesson is tailored to the students needs and each student can learn at their own pace.

Teaching in Music Theory
Jack also teaches beginners music theory up to grade 5 (ABRSM). These lessons will guide students through beginners music theory provided by fun and engaging exercises to give the student a better understanding of music notation and to set them up for skills such as score reading, notation, and being able to identify and understand a wider range of styles of music - all of which will also help give more informed performances - as well as skills for arranging and composition. All exercises and lessons are designed with the students goals and achievements in mind.

Genre
Jack specialises in classical piano, and performance direction. He is also able to bring repertoire into a students journey from their own preferred tastes.
