About Hilda P.
Hilda is a professional international composer and has been based in North London for many years. Hilda believes in the importance of musical education at every level and has many years experience teaching, giving individual lessons to children as well as composition for beginners to graduate composers. She has also led composition master classes and workshops for young professional composers and ensembles.
Hilda’s music has been commissioned and performed by many prestigious ensembles, orchestras and soloists around the world at prominent international festivals and venues.
Piano, flute and recorder lessons:
Hilda is a highly experienced music teacher who inspires pupils to build their confidence. She firmly believes that everybody has the potential and talent to learn music and that it should be fun. She pays much attention to each pupil's individual needs and always try’s to find ways to interest and motivate them.
Lessons typically cover:
- Basic instrumental techniques
- Rhythm exercises
- sight reading exercises
- ABRSM or Trinity Examining Board repertoire if the student is interested
Teaching music theory and composition:
Much in demand as composition tutor and lecturer, Hilda is a regular guest lecturer at the University of Buffalo and at other distinguished Universities in the US. She was the Darius Milhaud Professor at Mills College , Composition and Analysis Professor at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, Professor at the Cátedra Manuel de Falla in Spain as well as at Manchester University and at Centre Acanthes in France.
Lessons can include:
- Music Theory
- Studying keyboard harmony and voice leading
-Instrumentation and orchestration.
- Analysis of scores to learn different stylistic compositional techniques
- Arranging for small or large ensembles
- Learning through writing your own original music
Face to face lessons take place at her home in North London or via Zoom. In some cases, lessons can take place at the pupils’ home.
