About Harry J. F.
Harry James Flanigan is a prolific classical music teacher, working in West, North and East London, Hertfordshire and Essex over a seven year period.
With approximately 50 students, he teaches all levels from beginner to grade eight/diploma. After graduating with a 1st class degree in classical piano performance, Flanigan went to work for top UK schools both state and public. He specializes in ABRSM exams, although makes sure to include piano works directly related to student interests alongside graded study.
He specializes in active student learning utilising the Feynman Method, the Socratic Method, Micro-practicing, and Spaced Repetition. By learning these techniques, students also tend to improve in abilities outside the music classroom, as they are able to extrapolate skills for use in other environments.
First lessons focus on ascertaining a students level, interests and goals. If students are still of school age, then a consultation with the student's guardians can help set expectations from the lessons, and ensure consistent student progress.
