About Harry Thatcher (Singing and Saxophone Teacher)

As a Royal College of Music Masters graduate I am a highly skilled and experienced Teacher of Singing who has the enthusiasm to inspire young musicians. I have taught singing since 2015, teaching for The Royal College of Music Teaching Service during my studies and privately thereafter. I am very proud of my current positions at New Hall School and Becket Keys School where I teach twenty students and they are all progressing well. I have taken many of my students through the graded exams of ABRSM, Trinity and Trinity Pop and Rock. As well as acquiring knowledge of vocal technique through my degrees from RCM. I have experience assisting and teaching at Harrow International School in Bangkok. I now have experience teaching children of all ages and I have the ability to teach a variety of styles including musical theatre, opera and jazz.
Other responsibilities in these teaching roles included timetabling lessons, invoicing parents, noting attendance, upholding safeguarding, and accompanying in lessons. I like to keep an open dialogue with parents with regards to how their child is progressing through the year. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and take great joy in passing on my knowledge to younger students. When I was learning I had some fantastic teachers who inspired me and encouraged me and I enjoy doing the same. My students always seem to look forward to their lessons with me and I am always enthusiastic and organised. I create a fun and relaxed environment to help my students grow and develop to the best of their abilities while setting realistic goals for my students. I would say my I am a patient, inspiring, positive and self motivated teacher who cares about each student and their varying needs according to their ability.
I can relate closely to these young students who are eager to learn and improve their singing skills and musicianship. I progressed through the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and since then I have sung as a soloist for some of the UK’s leading opera companies including Glyndebourne (Jerwood Young Artist), Scottish Opera, Grange Park Opera and Mid Wales Opera. This direct experience at a high level not only inspires my students (who have come to see me perform!) but it enables me to be current and knowledgable about singing technique and I pass this onto my students.
