About Me
My name's Harry, I’m 23 years old and I’ve recently graduated from Cardiff University - I studied Music and achieved First Class Honours in my degree, also receiving the David Evans Music Prize for achieving the highest grade on my course. I love helping musicians of all ages develop their skills and knowledge - I’m incredibly passionate about music, and my goal is to pass that passion on to other people, making learning music as fun and rewarding as possible.
Lessons
I’ve had experience tutoring a range of age groups, from primary school students to adults. Regardless of age and experience, my approach to tutoring is friendly, accessible and student-led - simply tell me what you want to gain from your lessons, and I’ll structure my teaching around your needs! For example, in a lesson, you may bring me a piece of music you’d like to learn; together, we’ll work out the chords and melody, discuss the structure of the song and the style of playing it requires, and work on the techniques and skills needed for you to play it like a pro! Our first lesson, however can be more discussion-oriented; we can talk about your goals and how to achieve them, before working on foundational and basic skills - no preparation required!
Instruments
Trumpet: I have over 13 years of experience playing the trumpet, achieving Grade 8 through the Trinity exam board over 6 years ago. Since then, I've specialised in big band/jazz playing, but also have extensive brass band experience - I can teach you basic techniques for starting out on the instrument, as well as famous tunes, riffs and anything else you'd like to learn!
Guitar: I've been playing both the acoustic and electric guitar for many years, with a focus on fingerstyle with the acoustic and rhythm guitar on the electric. I'm able to teach you how to play your favourite song or riff, no matter the genre, as well as the fundamental skills needed to get to grips with the instrument.
Violin: I've been a violinist for over 14 years, also having achieved my Trinity Grade 8 over 6 years ago. I've been involved with numerous symphony orchestras, holding the position of leader of the orchestra...
