About Grainne
Are you looking for engaging, individualised and inclusive music lessons? Would you like to achieve grades in flute and piano, or learn to play folk and traditional on flute or whistle? If so, I might be the perfect fit as your teacher!
ABRSM grades
I offer lessons in classical flute up to grade 8 and beginner piano up to grade 2. I have had success with students achieving merits and distinctions in their chosen subjects.
Folk and Traditional
I teach instrumental lessons in traditional and folk music on tin-whistle, Irish wooden flute and silver flute. I prefer to teach these styles by-ear, however I can also provide and help with reading sheet music or alternative notations. I can help with learning tunes and developing repertoire and developing style and technique in your playing.
GCSE and A-Level Music
I can provide tutoring on all aspects of GCSE/A-Level Music, including performance, theory and composition. I have a 1st class degree in Music from Newcastle University and achieved grades 9 and A in my own GCSE and A-Level respectively.
Inclusivity
Much of my work in music involves working in SEN school and community settings. I have level 1 Makaton and I am dedicated to making my lessons as inclusive as possible. If you are interested in lessons or more general music sessions and you have access needs please feel free to reach out and we can adapt the lessons to suit your needs.
Location
I offer both in-person and online lessons. I am located in Blackheath, South-East London and have a space for teaching, however I can also travel to you for lessons depending on location.
