About George Platt
I am excited to find out you're keen to learn the Saxophone or even pick it up again now you have time to play it.
During our lessons together we are going to cover Saxophone fundamentals, basic theory and when you're ready, more technical rudiments - all to enhance your confidence, tone, musical ear and maximise enjoyment.
Learning a new instrument can be very daunting if you have no musical experience, but with our lessons I will do all I can to make sure we are having fun, that way you'll learn faster and wont see a chore in practicing the Sax.
When learning something new, the saxophone is no different, you have to allow yourself some time to practice to make sure it all sinks in. I know people have busy lives and children are rushed off their feet with extra curricular activities. This is why we will sit down and carefully plan out a practice routine which is achievable yet realistic, to allow you to learn the saxophone progressively without being swamped in all things Sax!
My favourite type of music which involves the Saxophone is Soul/R&B and Jazz music. Think Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Earth Wind & Fire, George Benson, The Average White Band, The Crusaders and any type of Jazz. Having experience playing all genres of saxophone music from Mainstream Pop all the way to Neo Soul-Funk and Experimental Jazz, we can cover almost any type of music you want to learn or advance in.
I have been playing for almost 20 years and have performed at famous venues all over London and the rest of the UK.
I teach woodwind (Saxophone, Clarinet & Flute) in secondary schools in Derbyshire and have a safeguarding certificate along with the necessary annual training at the start of every school year.
You can even find me on YouTube presenting educational videos for the World's biggest Saxophone store Sax.co.uk.
I look forward to meeting you.
