About Gabriel
I have recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London with a first class BMus (Hons) Music Performance degree. I am a freelance trumpet player and I perform all over the country with extensive experience in a range of ensembles from orchestras to commercial to musical theatre to brass bands. I balance my time between performing and teaching and have long held a passion for music education as both an instrumental teacher and group/class leader.
I have taught individual brass lessons for many years now as both a private tutor and as part of various institutions. I am the current Brass Tutor at Deptford Green High School and have previously held the position of Course Leader and Brass Tutor at The Conservatoire, Blackheath. I have taught a range of brass instruments at beginner level though the trumpet (cornet and flugelhorn) is my main discipline. I have taught a wide range of ages from children as young as 5 to retired students looking for a new hobby.
It is of high importance to me that students do not follow a one-size-fits-all approach to learning an instrument. Getting to know my students and understanding what it is that motivates them and drives their progress is paramount to a successful tutor/tutee relationship. Students must dictate the direction that the learning takes whether that be through preparing for graded examinations or a more casual approach.
