About Freya Turton

Freya began her professional journey on the West End stage at just 11 years old, performing a solo role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Woman in White. Her love for singing began early, nurtured by a childhood full of music and song. She later went on to study Music at the University of Manchester, where she discovered a passion for classical and operatic singing. Most recently, she completed a vocal master’s degree in the Netherlands (June 2025), with a focus on innovation, collaboration, and community-led music-making.

Alongside her work as a freelance soprano in London, Freya has appeared in film and TV as a Background Artist and has spent the past nine years teaching singing to students of all ages and levels.

Having loved singing more than anything while growing up, Freya now works to pass on that same sense of joy and curiosity to her students. She draws on her experience both on stage and in the teaching studio to tailor each lesson to the individual. She currently teaches at JAM Theatre Company and has previously taught at The Misbourne School, Egerton Rothesay School, Sargent and Plester School of Dance, SDSD, and Footlights.

Teaching in Singing, Piano & Theory
Freya teaches classical, musical theatre, and pop styles — from complete beginners to advanced singers. She can prepare students for graded exams with ABRSM, LAMDA, LCM, Rock School, and Trinity. Her students have performed at Chesham Arts Festival (often placing highly), successfully auditioned for Garsington Youth Opera, and performed in local theatre productions. Many have gone on to study Music and Performing Arts at higher education level.

Freya also plays piano to an intermediate standard and is able to accompany students in lessons. She has experience teaching beginner piano and preparing students for ABRSM Grade 5 Theory.

Her teaching style is informed by a solid grounding in vocal technique and vocal health. As part of her master’s, she studied Vocal Methodology, and always aims to help students build confidence and develop their sound — all within a supportive, engaging, and relaxed environment.
