About Erika S.

Erika is a enthusiastic, dynamic and experienced piano teacher with 20 years teaching experience, in both Europe and the UK across all age ranges. She graduated at the Pedagogical Faculty of Constantin the Philosopher, University in Nitra and Conservatory school of music Zilina, Slovakia. During the last years of study she worked as accompanist to the Bratislava, City Choir. She has taught in Music Schools in Slovakia, Private Schools in the UK and on Residential Music courses for children in and around London. Currently she teaches privately in her home studio and working as a piano teacher for South Gloucestershire and North Somerset music services.

Teaching Style
Erika teaches piano from beginners to advanced student both online and in person from her home studio. She takes a classic approach in the music lessons, which include, scales, arpeggios, studies, sight- reading and also pieces played for a pleasure including improvisation. She ensure her students gain the correct technique, hand posture and movement including improving finger strength and articulation in their playing. According to the examination level of each student and the purpose, each lesson will be tailored to their personal needs. Erika is experienced at preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity College London exams from 1-8 grade.

It doesn't matter if you are beginner or intermedia student. Lessons will be structured to help you overcome your issues in a fun and engaging way.

Genre
Erika specialises in classical music but teaches almost all genders including jazz, pop, contemporary music.

First lesson
During the first lesson, you will have a chat about your expectations. Depending on the level of the students we will use short exercises to gain a better understanding their proficiency.
Erika understands that every students is unique and is keen to find the best way to communicate. She looks to create a nurturing environment, which allows her students to flourish and develop the potential to express themselves through music.

Beginners
Prior to the first lesson, Erika will make sure she is clear on the goals and needs of the students. After a brief chat, if the student has had previous experience, she will ask to hear a piece of their own choice which represents their current level the student currently performs.
