About Emma Lindsey
Hello! I'm Emma, and I specialise in teaching musical theatre and classical singing, focusing on developing vocal technique, performance skills and musicianship.
My teaching style is all about you – I focus on creating a positive and supportive atmosphere where you can thrive. Together, we'll make our lessons fun, inspiring, and full of insights to help you grow as a musician. Each lesson is designed to build your confidence and enhance your unique voice. While I'm a huge advocate of singing for fun, students also have the opportunity to work towards goals such as performances or exams.
What to Expect:
Your first lesson is an exciting step! We'll start with an informal chat about your musical interests and goals. This initial session may include some simple exercises to assess your current level and help me design a customised lesson plan just for you. My lessons are structured yet flexible, ensuring you receive a balanced mix of technical training and creative expression. We'll set achievable goals and celebrate your progress along the way. Students will have the opportunity to take ABRSM exams.
Location & Availability:
Lessons are held in my home in Southend-on-Sea. I offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your busy life, including late afternoon, evening and weekend slots.
Experience:
I have a degree in Music and have just completed an MA in Vocal Pedagogy.
I performed with one of the UK’s leading symphonic choruses, Crouch End Festival Chorus, for ten years. Highlights included Lord of the Rings in Concert, the First Night of the BBC Proms 2022 at the Royal Albert Hall, Ennio Morricone's final UK concert at the O2, and Christmas concerts with King's College, Cambridge, singing with Take That, and recording at Abbey Road.
Locally, I run a choir called The Fifty. I am the Singing Convenor for the Southend Festival of Performing Arts and was previously the Chair of Trustees for Southend Boys' and Girls' Choirs. I created Southend Vox Community and Chamber Choirs and co-founded Spelthorne Young Voices.
