Emily has been a wonderful teacher and exceeded even my most optimistic expectations. I have always been very insecure about singing, following a few childhood experiences where public singing led to shame and embarrassment, to the point that I had extreme anxiety at the prospect of Christmas carol singing with my family or karaoke with friends. When I contacted Emily I just asked that she help me sing 'less bad' but she did so much more than that - I am now so much more confident about singing, both by myself and in front of others. I ENJOY singing now, and all of that insecurity and anxiety is gone. It sounds like a terrible cliche but it's true, I have now found my voice. Emily was kind, understanding, supportive and very patient with me. She gave lots of positive reinforcement and never made me feel like I was being silly when I struggled. Emily is such a kind, friendly, knowledgeable and amazing teacher. I am not a very confident singer, but she made me feel so safe and comfortable from our first lesson. She is extremely encouraging and each lesson I can see improvements in the quality of my voice. Emily also knows so much about technique and how to use it to better students voices.
