About Ella
About Ella:
Since studying at The Brit School, Ella has for the past eight years, developed a career as a singer songwriter. Ella has extensive experience in performing, song writing, releasing music and managing her own projects in the music industry. Having sung for over 15 years, she has also built up her musical knowledge and skills to include playing piano and guitar which she often includes as part of her performances and as an accompaniment to when recording her own material. Ella has a passion for using singing and song writing as a way of self-expression and as a therapeutic tool for building self-confidence.
Qualifications:
• Level 3 (distinction) extended diploma in music studied at The Brit School
• Grade 7 vocals at rock school vocals
• 8 years’ experience of song writing
• Accompanying piano and guitar
Ella’s teaching style is informal, and student centred, making sure the lessons focus making the student feel comfortable and achieving their musical ambitions, while still making the learning experience enjoyable and creative. Ella specialises in vocal training, finding confidence when performing and song writing.
Lesson plans range depending on the level of student skill. For beginners, lessons may feel daunting, but Ella creates a relaxed environment where the sole focus is just to have fun and to experiment. She encourages students in the first lesson to bring in a song they would like to sing or reference singers/music they would like to explore as a starting point.
Ella’s singing lessons will include:
• Vocal warmups
• Breathing exercises and learning to support your voice through breath control.
• Vocal range exercises
• Understanding your own voice in relation to your body
• Building a stage presence
• Building a repertoire of songs which you enjoy singing.
Song writing lessons will include:
• Learning the basic structure of a song (pop/folk/indie)
• Improvisation and finding your own sound/genre.
• Experimenting with harmonising
• Lyric writing and storytelling
• Learning to accompany your songs with guitar/keyboard.
