About Lizzie

Lizzie is a friendly and experienced piano teacher based in Cornwall. She has been taking on students aged from five to 85 since 2006 and firmly believes you are never too old and it’s never too late to learn piano!

She also has experience teaching individuals with varying needs including autism and visual impairments; and passionately believes music is for all. Lizzie takes a very inclusive, individualistic approach to her teaching, tailoring a plan for each student depending on their aspirations and abilities. This plan may be to follow a traditional exam-driven route via the popular MTB, ABRSM or Trinity boards; all of which she has extensive experience with. Or it may be to follow a more “playing for pleasure” route in which she will endeavour to enable your progress via material that is engaging and to your tastes wherever possible. Theory can also be on a “need to know” basis; or following a traditional graded syllabus, depending on your preference.

If you were to take that first step and book a lesson; the first meeting would be spent getting to know one another and finding out your tastes, goals, and abilities; allowing for Lizzie to formulate a plan and give advice on the best materials to purchase to aid your progress. There’s a lot of music and resources out there, so it’s important to find what suits YOU.

Lizzie began playing piano at the age of six and was smitten immediately. She passed her grades up to grade 8 with Trinity and holds grade 8 performance with MTB. She has extensive experience accompanying other musicians, ballet classes, local and school productions, and has played at weddings and christenings.

In 2006 She took on the role of music teacher at a school where her responsibilities included directing the school musical production, running the choir, and attending music festivals, alongside giving curriculum based classroom music lessons to children aged 4 to 16. She also began giving one to one piano tuition and her studio was born. She advertised locally and gained more students rapidly due to her good reputation and it has been her full time job since 2012 when she left her school role to solely focus on her piano students. She has a reputation for primarily making her lessons accessible, engaging and fun, but also to achieve grades if so desired. Her number one motivation with all of her students of whatever age is to ignite a love of the piano and mu...
