Elen's lessons primarily focuses on the following:
Pitch
Your ability to sing in tune is absolutely essential, and it might not come naturally for beginners. Don’t let this discourage you though, because it can be trained! Singing lessons with Elen will focus on the coordination between the mind and the muscles in the larynx.
Song Learning
Song learning and building your repertoire is a fun way of incorporating vocal technique into the music you enjoy performing! Elen can teach various genres such as classical, opera, musical theatre and art song.
Performance
Elen will teach her students how to perform in front of an audience. This involves posture, facial expressions, colour and body language.
Exams & competitions
Preparing for exams and competitions can be stressful, but also happens to be one of Elen’s most experienced fields. Elen is well informed about ABRSM and Trinity exams and local and National Eisteddfod competitions in Wales, and can help her students prepare an impressionable and perfected performance.
Theory, Aural Test, Sight Reading
These are requirements in ABRSM and Trinity exams, and also very useful if you wish to become a professional singer. Elen can help her students prepare for music theory tests, aural tests and sight reading tests.
Consultation lessons are either 30 minutes or 1 hour (depending on age) and are essential for gaining an understanding your current vocal abilities. During this session, Elen will introduce various exercises and fun songs to the student. Following this, Elen will offer a tailored teaching plan in line with everything discussed during the session.
