About Eleanor
Eleanor McIntosh is a classically trained soprano and graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music.
Eleanor has worked professionally for many years as a successful singer in production such as Singapore Lyric Opera’s ‘Turandot’, Opera Viva’s ‘The Flying Dutchman’ and closer to home performing as a lead vocalist in Thursford Christmas Spectacular 2 years running. Eleanor has recently returned from a singing onboard luxury cruise ships ‘Silversea’ where she performed a variety of genres ranging from musical theatre and opera to jazz, blues and pop.
Alongside performing, Eleanor has always had a strong teaching practice. This includes coaching, exam preparation and arranging and constructing staged performances. She has taught a mixture of individual lessons and group sessions, working for companies such as Stagecoach Theatre Arts, Little Voices as well as local theatre arts colleges and schools. Eleanor absolutely loves teaching and encouraging students to fulfil their potential through nurturing lessons and warm guidance.
Teaching in Singing & Piano
Eleanor teaches singing and piano from beginners to advanced to students aged 6 and up.
Lessons are developed to suit the individual and after discussing what it is you would like out the the lessons, Eleanor is able to mould the lessons to meet your goals. Eleanor teaches most genres, but specialises in musical theatre and classical music. She also offers graded exams, having experience with music boards ABRSM and LCM.
First Lesson
Eleanor is aware of the stresses present in today’s world and so lessons will begin with a little chat, taking in what you’d like to work on and catering to the students needs, energy levels and wellbeing on the day.
You will then be guided through a warm up before focusing on specific vocal exercises that are going to help strengthen and develop your vocal abilities and technique. This can include focus on vocal health, breath support, tonality, musicality, phrasing and character/contextual awareness. We will then take what we have been focused on and apply this to a song of your choice.
Throughout her own career Eleanor has developed the awareness that one should never lose the reason as to WHY they first wanted to sing, and believes staying true to this (and performing pieces that bring you joy) is crucial for development.
