About Ee Ann Ho

Hi there! My name is Ee Ann and I studied music education at the University of Cambridge, towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, PGCE (Music). For more than 13 years, I have been sticking to my passion for music teaching; coaching my students' music learning at any stage (Beginners to Advanced), since May 2010.

My music tutoring experience encompasses mainly private lessons (1 to 1), classroom teaching and outreach projects - eg. working as a woodwind & pastoral support staff member with NCO (National Children's Orchestras Of Great Britain) in recent years.

Working with children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) has been one of the most rewarding parts of my teaching journey. In terms of teaching children with SEND, I have had the experience working as a SEND Ambassador in a state school, liaising with teaching assistants and the SEN Coordinator to plan, implement and reflect on music lessons for students' needs. Through music, I could see how my students became more confident and some of them even took part in school musicals! (Oliver, for example).

---My Teaching Approach---

I tailor lessons to facilitate my students’ learning based on their learning goals (examinations/hobby), focusing on Piano & Music Theory to Grade 8, and Flute to Grade 7 on both ABRSM and Trinity Syllabus. Experience in successfully motivating and entering students for exams with a 100% pass rate, with most of my pupils having achieved merit or distinction.

----My Teaching Philosophy----

“I believe music education is not only about learning the “instrumental technique”, but it’s also a voyage of holistic musical discovery; exploring the cultural and historical background of music, its composer and fun facts about them.

Advocating open communication with my students has always been my core teaching principle, as it cultivates my students’ critical thinking skills, allowing them to set their own goals.

By knowing an individual’s needs, I plan and tailor lessons using different approaches, making sure my students’ learning journey an enjoyable and memorable one.”

I currently teach at my student's house, and I can speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay and a fair bit of Japanese.
