After having several trial lessons with different teachers, I think Edgar has been my best match so far. I’ve been learning guitar from Edgar for six months. While I had previous experience, both self-taught and through private lessons, I came in with my own learning preferences and skills. Edgar didn’t flinch at any of that and adapted to my requests and took the time to understand how I learn. He continued to invite more input from me on how I can learn the best way possible. He cares about the teacher–student dynamic, and he pays attention to how I engage with his approach and how a student’s confidence can be affected beyond the lesson itself. He has helped me with composition and transcription: He was happy to help without putting pressure on me to learn theory first. That approach made me feel at ease with learning theory naturally, and he has been great at supporting that process. I can be expressive about how I feel, but Edgar never seems to be offended and is even curious to know what I have to say. We happen to be into the same niche genre of metal (such as prog and core), and I always enjoy our conversation about the music! His wide musical background, from classical to metal, and moments like letting me try his 8-string guitar made the lessons fun and inspiring! He has a very student-centred approach, which I’ve personally found quite rare in my experiences with music teachers across different instruments. Overall, he has been a great match for my interests and learning journey!

Edgar has been an incredible patient teacher with me. I had no previous experience so I appreciated that we could go at the pace I needed. He tends to go beyond needed in order to provide with information. I would definitely recommend.

Edgar taught me classical guitar for a few months. I started as complete beginner and even through virtual zoom lessons, he helped me master the basics of classical guitar. He was a very focused and careful teacher, and spent time making sure that I built a solid foundation before learning more complex pieces. He also had a very welcoming and positive attitude overall and was very understanding when it came to scheduling lessons.
