About David

David is a highly skilled and experienced cellist and teacher based in Glasgow. He currently serves as Director of Music and Curriculum for Sistema Scotland's Big Noise programmes, and combines this with regular teaching for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Department and the Benedetti Foundation. He has coached for National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain, Scottish Schools Orchestra Trust, National Schools Symphony Orchestra, VIVAstrings and has also directed the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland's String Training Academy course. He believes passionately in the intrinsic and extrinsic benefits of learning a musical instrument and cares deeply about getting it right for every individual.

Outside of teaching, notable performance experience includes BBCSSO, RSNO, Scottish Opera, Red Note Ensemble, Concerto Caledonia, National Theatre for Scotland, Les Miserables UK Tour (cover), National Trust for Scotland cruises and more. He also performs regularly for weddings and events as part of string quartets and ceilidh bands.
