About Daniel Crompton

Highly experienced and committed teacher.

Enjoy stress-free, supportive and fast-paced lessons from a real industry professional.

Online and in person lessons.

I teach:

- Cello
- Piano
- Music Theory (I have also developed an interactive 'Grade 0 to Grade 5' crash course which can be completed in 6 weeks, to be delivered online)

From Beethoven in the Royal Festival Hall to Hans Zimmer in the Royal Albert Hall I have a wealth of musical experience that I can bring to your lessons. My job as your teacher is to use my experience to mould lessons to your requirements, as well as sharing my professional wisdom and passion for music!

I teach Piano, Cello and Theory from Beginner to Expert (Grade 8 +). I studied these instruments at the Royal Northern College of Music as well as its 'Junior Department', JRNCM. I then worked with the country's top ensembles. I was professionally trained in pedagogy (teaching) during my degree.

A typical format for a lesson will include:
- warming up/technical (not only hands but rhythm and ear-training!)
- for beginner-intermediate level: a quick exploration of a new topic/time to help with homework or general points of curiosity!
- playing/working on a primary piece: the biggest focus is always on playing during the lessons. I prefer lessons to be very hands on - no twiddling thumbs during a lecture from your teacher!
- secondary pieces/studies/improvisation/composition: I try to make sure that there is a range of musical activities at your disposal - you will never be made to learn the same piece of music for months and months!

I have an Enhanced DBS cerficate on the Update Service and I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians, meaning I am registered as a teacher there as well as having Public Liability Insurance.
