About Dan

Professional Saxophone player & Pianist & Teacher | Royal Academy of Music Graduate | International touring musician | Jazz Specialist

Lessons with Dan are about finding your sound on the instrument. Developing your creativity and confidence are a key focus and the structure can be as goal oriented as you require. Whether that’s a new hobby, specific performance, exam certificates or college applications. The overall goals are for you to enjoy playing your instrument and enjoy the journey of improving.

To get the most out of Dan’s teaching it’s recommended that you schedule regular lessons with enough time to practice in between. This can be weekly or fortnightly depending on what works for you. Usually a block of 5 lessons over 5 weeks is a great place to start.

In the first lesson we’ll discuss your musical interests and aspirations. We’ll play through any material you’re currently working on, or material I have and then discuss the layout of future lessons.

Throughout his 11 year teaching career, he has taught many ages and abilities from beginner children to advanced musicians. Dan has taught SSEN/EHCP students, adult beginners and returning musicians. Each student receives a considered and custom approach based on their ability, needs and aspirations.

As a professional musician Dan has extensive performing experience. He is regularly performing throughout the UK and Europe in jazz clubs, concert venues, West End stages and high-end production events. He also records from my home studio.
Most recent performance/recording credits include: Hannah Grace (Piano & Saxophone), Amanda Whiting (Saxophone & Flute), The Simon & Garfunkel Story (Saxophone & Tin Whistle), Gabrielle Aplin (Saxophone)
