About Clive C.
Clive approaches lessons with the student in mind to tailor and adapt the lessons to the individual student’s abilities and aspirations, inspiring motivation to learn more. Clive enjoyed learning music when he was at school, and aims to bring that joy and enthusiasm to all of his students.
Guitar Teaching
Clive teaches all levels and styles of guitar to students of all ages, and he has done so for over 30 years. Clive is post grade 8 guitar, and has taught students who have attained grade 5 distinction. Clive started by teaching groups of various ages, and from there got some gigs abroad. Clive studied with Professor of Trinity College Of Music in London, and several concert guitarists. Clive is currently the sole guitar teacher at the Oratory School, and is also teaching privately in Henley on Thames.
First Lesson
The aim of the first lesson would be to find out what level the student is at, and what music and styles the student is interested in, as well as what the student wants to achieve. By the end of the lesson a good rapport is established with the student which provides direction for future lessons. The first lesson is done at half price.
Subsequent Lessons
In subsequent lessons we would aim to build on the techniques and theory to ensure the student reaches their potential. Where possible, other aspects of music would be included to provide a wide variety of teaching material. The aim for all lessons would be to make sure the student learns something new, and has fun doing so!
Genre
- Classical Guitar emphasising the Associated Board Grades
- Electric Guitar focused on soloing and the required techniques
- Acoustic Guitar geared towards finger styles and strumming
