A little bit about me:
I have been a piano, keyboard, theory & voice teacher for over 25 years. I am based in Bramhall & provide a warm, welcoming, relaxing environment where my students can flourish. My lessons are student centred & I am a friendly teacher with a positive, supportive attitude, & a nurturing approach to my learners.
I teach a wide range of students including children, teenagers, adults & seniors. I work with students of varying levels of ability but for those of you who are at the beginning of your musical journey don't be nervous, I am very approachable & will quickly put you at ease.
Specialisms:
I specialise in teaching students with learning difficulties & disabilities. I currently work with students who struggle with dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, ADHD & Tourette's syndrome. I have also worked with students who have hearing difficulties, vision impairments & mental health issues such as depression, anxiety & OCD.
Piano & keyboard lessons:
My piano & keyboard lessons encourage learners to develop their sight reading skills, a good technique, an understanding of music theory & harmony, & will develop their musicianship skills as well as their ear.
Popular voice lessons:
My popular voice lessons include training in posture, breath management, intonation, diction, & forward placement.. My vocal lessons always begin with some work on posture, some relaxation exercises & some vocal warm up's, then continue with a song which the student has chosen. We usually spend 2-3 weeks working on this.
Theory lessons:
My theory lessons are aimed at students who want to thoroughly grasp the ability to understand how to read pitch, & make sense of time signatures, clefs, note lengths, rhythms, keys, scales, musical terms & so much more.
Duration of lessons:
My music lessons vary in length. & it’s advisable to start with half an hour lessons then build up to 45 minute or hourly ones.
Background & experience:
I studied piano from the age of 7 to 19 & sat 8 ABRSM grades in piano, then took an A’ level in music at Ridge Danyers College in Marple. This was followed by performances in 2 open piano solo classes at Macclesfield Festival in 1995 where I was awarded 3rd and 7th place.
