About Christina M.

I have played violin for over 20 years. I received my bachelors in music from Kansas State University, and received my masters in music from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. For 6 years, I ran my own private lesson studio where I taught one-to-one lessons for violin and viola students ranging from elementary to high school age (Key Stages 1-5.) I worked closely with my students and their parents to develop personalized tuition based on their needs and goals with their playing, i.e. competitions or recitals. I also conducted a beginning youth string orchestra for 2 years, with students in Key Stages 2-3.

I'm comfortable taking any students spanning Grades 1-8, from very beginners to adult students. From the first lesson, we would discuss your interests and goals with your instrument, and figure out a general lesson plan to help you achieve those goals. I especially enjoy exploring a wide range of styles and genres with my students, and can teach more contemporary music along with more traditional tuition. I think a compassionate and positive approach to music helps students foster their passion for musical expression. Through my teaching experience it has become increasingly clear to me that the most successful students were the ones who were allowed to explore their "voice" through their own playing.
