About Catriona B. S. H.
Catriona specialises in classical music. She teaches all abilities of flute, and piano and music theory up to grade 5, for students aged 8 and upwards. She particularly enjoys working with students to prepare them for ABRSM grade exams. For a first lesson, more experienced players should expect to have their instrument available and some music they have been looking at recently. Beginners only need to provide an instrument. A typical lesson would include a warm-up and tone exercises, scales and/or sight-reading practice, and pieces.
Since 2019, Catriona has worked in a secondary school as a full-time Music teacher. Although this has been predominantly classroom teaching, she also taught instrumental lessons for three students a week, in addition to weekly music theory classes. She held instrumental awards as a student at both Cambridge and Oxford Universities, playing for HM The Queen and working at a range of engagements, including Wilderness Festival and in collaboration with the Choir of St. John's College, Cambridge. She is currently in postgraduate study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire on flute.
