About Camilla
I'm a calm, friendly music teacher with a First Class degree in Music and a Masters with Distinction in composition, as well as over ten years of teaching experience across instrumental lessons, academic music, and ensemble leadership. Alongside private teaching, I have spent several years as an A Level Music lecturer and course lead, supporting students through performance, composition and exams as well as leading choirs, jazz bands and chamber ensembles.
I’m known for my compassionate, student-centred approach and strong pastoral skills. My background also includes teaching English and working closely with SEN students, which helps me adapt lessons to suit individual needs.
I’m also a qualified yoga teacher, which influences my grounded teaching style - particularly helpful for nervous (and younger!) learners.
Lessons
I aim to create lessons where you feel comfortable, encouraged and excited to learn. Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning after a break, or working towards exams, lessons are carefully tailored to suit your goals, pace and learning style.
You can expect a calm, positive atmosphere where mistakes are part of the process and progress is clearly explained. I focus on building strong foundations while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable, so students gain confidence as well as skills.
Instruments & Subjects
I offer lessons in flute (up to grade 8), saxophone (up to grade 8) and piano (up to grade 6), as well as music theory (to advanced level). I also provide academic support for GCSE and A Level Music, including composition, analysis, and exam preparation.
Lessons can be practical, academic, or a combination of both, depending on what will best support your progress.
Who I Teach
I teach children from around age 5 through to teenagers and adults, but am open to teaching younger learners. I have extensive experience working with a wide range of learners, including students who may feel nervous, lack confidence, or need a more patient and supportive approach.
Many of my students take lessons simply for enjoyment, while others work towards GCSE, A Level, or graded exams - both approaches are equally valued.
