About Camilla

Camilla believes that with the right support and encouragement any child or adult can succeed with musical learning. She has 100% exam pass rate and some of her pupils went on to study in top music colleges and conservatories including RNCM, Birmingham Conservatoire and others.

Camilla’s educational journey started in Almaty. After graduating from Kazakh State Music College with distinction, she won a scholarship to study in the UK. Camilla now holds a BA (Hons), PGDip and MMus and has over 15 years experience of teaching for music services and different school settings.

Camilla's education, broad range of skills and extensive experience all influence her teaching style, which is a mixture of a strict, disciplined approach with a nurturing, positive and patient style. This is why from the very first lesson she will make sure to:

*Understand the pupil, the needs and how she can support the learning best she can
*Find the material which is both fun and challenging
*Make sure the pace of the lessons is suited to the pupil
*Find the right way to explain any technical aspects of playing a wind instruments
*Guide the pupil through the very rich and exciting repertoire whether it is Hot Cross Buns or Strauss Concerto.
*Support the pupil in exams or any performance opportunities if the pupil chooses to
*And just to share the absolute magic of music

Camilla has experience of teaching children or adults of all levels and styles including Indian Improvisation but prefers teaching classical style. Scales, arpeggios and sight reading are a must in Camilla's lessons. She excels at tailoring the right repertoire to the needs of individual pupils and making sure lessons are well-balanced. A lesson usually includes advice on posture, embouchure and reed focus, sight reading, pieces and duets or ensemble playing. Audition advice, performance and recording tips could also be included.

She has been in Music Education since graduating in 2006 and has worked and given master classes in various educational settings in Hull, Leeds, Bari, Almaty and Astana, at both primary and secondary levels.

Being able to speak three languages fluetly and coming from a multicultural and diverse family is something else she is proud of.
