About Bertram A.

Bertie, a graduate from City University is a London-based musician and teacher working from a fully-equipped, personal recording studio in North West London. Having specialised in Jazz Drum Kit under Andrew Bain, he has gone on to perform at The Royal Albert Hall, St David’s Hall, The Barbican Centre, The Vortex and many more. His remote session work has allowed him to connect with a wide array of artists across the world. His enthusiasm and dedication to the instrument encourages all students from complete beginners, to those looking to further their playing professionally. Working from a number of resources, he is able to guide his students through lessons on technique, performance, notation, and aural practises.

My approach to music is one of pure enjoyment. Music is an expressive field, anyone can learn if they have a desire to express something. Technique and rhythmic capabilities are important but if you do not enjoy the learning process then it will be harder to progress. I like to create a relaxed atmosphere in which every student is allowed to express their own views through music. I imagine the drum kit as another voice for each student. Whether it is Metal, Rock, Funk or Jazz, my experiences have helped me to form a strong basis to help teach and help students from every musical approach.
