About Arthur
I am a practically minded teacher, trying to focus on what you personally love about music and what you want to achieve in your own journey. Learning technical attitude to your instrument through the music and artists you admire will build a passion and interest that should last the duration of our time together. My students are engaged and personally catered to, with their own musical tastes and passions explored. I believe strongly that the best way to improve on any instrument, is to be able to play the music that you love.
The versatility and heritage of the guitar means that it can lead you down a whole number of musical routes. It is so often helpful and important to have a teacher who has professional experience. In my career, I have played for drag queens, performing lady gaga and David Bowie; in theatre shows, soloing over Grease and improvising in Curtains; and taught for a fantastic year with the music society at The University of York.
I'm a grade 8 guitarist, having performed in folk bands, Hard rock groups, jazz and blues bands, I have a wide knowledge of genre and theory, able to apply my experience to a range of different situations. I have a great love and passion for music composition and, with past students, have gone through numerous composition exercises, encouraging people's creativity to shine.
I believe that becoming a musician is about passion, hard-work, and having a really fun time. If you're intrested in finding out what you could be playing a year from now, then please get in touch :)
