About Aria

Aria is a professional violin player and teacher, she studied at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and was awarded a BMus (Hons) and PGDip in violin performance.
She has a variety of performance experience, from orchestral performances with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to contemporary world music/folk performances in festivals around the UK and Europe.

As a teacher, Aria has experience leading workshops and youth orchestras, as well as 10 years experience of private tuition, and music service coaching.
She is passionate and enthusiastic about teaching the violin and loves sharing her knowledge and experience.

What are the lessons like?
One of Aria’s main focuses in lessons is developing good body and hand posture, and feeling comfortable and relaxed when playing the violin, (it can be a bit tricky to produce a big sound on the violin at the beginning, so don’t worry!) this really helps to produce a beautiful sound on the instrument and enables you to progress and do more interesting things later on!

In her lessons, she also teaches how to read music confidently and have an understanding of musical styles, as well as developing good pulse, rhythm, and aural skills.

Aria is experienced and happy to prepare her students for ABRSM/Trinity exams, but she understands if this path is not for everyone, and believes that there are different ways of measuring progress.

Who can take lessons and what do I need for my lessons?
Students of all ages and levels are welcome to take lessons with me! I teach from complete beginners to a high standard.

For the lessons you will need your own violin and bow, contact me if you need help choosing an instrument, or getting the correct size violin and extra equipment. It is also useful to bring a notebook and a pencil to write down your notes for the week.
Other than that, just come with lots of enthusiasm!
