Archie is a wonderfully supportive piano teacher who always takes the time to explain everything clearly and in a way that makes sense. His calm and encouraging approach creates a really positive learning environment and you can tell he genuinely wants you to grow as a musician. Each lesson feels purposeful and tailored and he consistently helps build confidence while pushing you just the right amount. I’ve made real progress thanks to his guidance and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to improve.

I’ve only been taking lessons with Archie for a few months, but am already so pleased with the progress. As a beginner, I’ve really appreciated how encouraging and patient he is, and his skill at breaking down different elements of music theory in a way that’s easy to understand. His written summaries after each lesson make it so much easier to structure my own practise and he knows exactly how to challenge me without ever making it feel overwhelming. I couldn’t be happier with my experience learning piano with Archie! From my very first lesson as a complete beginner, he made reading music and playing the piano feel achievable and enjoyable. Would highly recommend lessons with Archie, especially for any adult beginners. I started as an almost complete beginner and, with Archie’s supportive and encouraging teaching style, after six months can play some pieces by Bach, Chopin and Liszt. Lessons have always been friendly, fun, and engaging. Archie has pushed me to learn and pick pieces I like and enjoy to play, and given me the confidence to feel I can approach and explore new pieces even on my own. He also gives a broad foundation in music theory and sight reading, so week on week I feel my skill and understanding grow.

Archie was so welcoming from my first lesson and encouraging even when I’ve struggled with something. Having had piano lessons before with other teachers, Archie brings a fresh approach to learning the piano and has taught me in exactly the way I had hoped to have been taught - working on the theory behind music patterns (circle of fifths etc.) to improve my improvisation but also encouraging me to push myself with my sight reading, which I’ve always struggled with. The hours just seem to fly by so quickly but everyone I’ve played to has noticed a big improvement in my playing and in a relatively short time. Thank you so much Archie !
